As promised, here is my post about Greyhounds. My family adopted a Retired Racing Greyhound in 1998, our good boy was 4 years old when we adopted him. He was part of our family for nine years. He lived for 13 years, 5 months, and 2 days. He was an outstanding travel companion, he would go everywhere I went on my truck or SUV.
When I came back from the sea, our Greyhound was the first one to welcome dad, and he would not let me out of his sight. My Greyhound would usually come to my room, knock at the door - not a knock but a scratch with his legs - and wake me up in the middle of the night. He was very good waking me up between 0100 and 0200, as he needed to go out to take care of his necessities.
Every day between 2000 and 2100 my Greyhound would come to me, raise his ears, and move his tail. This was his way of telling me that it was time to go out for the evening walk. We used to go to the community park for a good walk, and then he was ready for a good night of sleep.
My good Greyhound suffered a stroke early this year, we needed a miracle for him to survive, and it happened. He did not fully recover, but lived for another five months. He died on July 6th 2007.

Here are a few facts about the Greyhound, taken from multiple sources.
The Greyhound is the only dog mentioned in the King James Version of the Bible. See Proverbs 30:29-31.
The Greyhound is an ancient and noble breed. Drawings of Greyhounds are depicted in temples, some of then dating back to 6000 BC.
Greyhound was the dog of choice for kings, queens, pharaohs and sheiks. In early Arabian culture, the birth of a Greyhound was cause for great celebrations.
To be presented with a Greyhound was considered the most prized gift one could receive.
It was believed that the Greyhound was permitted in the next world to give information and evidence about mankind.
It was the Egyptians who first raced Greyhounds for sport in open fields with a wild hare as quarry and no rules of the game except speed.
Greyhounds were considered to possess divine powers. The destruction of a Greyhound was an extremely serious crime.
In the 15th century, commoners were beheaded if caught with a Greyhound in their possession - so that the sport of coursing (racing) could remain an elite activity shared only by royalty.
In the 16th century, Queen Elizabeth established the beginning of formalized dog racing, dubbed the "Sport of Queens". The first track to open in the United States was in California in 1920.
The Greyhound can spot a moving object up to a half mile away.
The Greyhound run at their fastest between 40-45 miles per hour.
The Greyhound life span is 10 to 13 years.
Their sprinting ability enables them to expend an enormous amount of energy in a short period of time. Their ability to blend speed, coordination and strategy have made them great hunters as well as racers. Like our forests, lanes and oceans, Greyhounds are one of our valued natural treasures.
When you adopt a former racing Greyhound, you take home a wonderful, gentle companion. You also save the life of a magnificent purebred dog that will spend the rest of his years returning your favor with unconditional love and affection.
The Greyhound is quiet, calm and extremely well-mannered indoors. They are good with other dogs, and with other pets if raised with them; outdoors, they tend to chase any small thing that moves. They are reserved with strangers, very sensitive and sometimes timid. Despite their independent nature, they are eager to please.
The greyhound needs daily exercise, but it is a sprinter, not an endurance runner. Its needs can thus be met with a chance to run, or by a longer walk on leash. It loves to run and chase outdoors, and can easily run into danger at great speed unless exercised in a safe area. It is not generally amenable to living outdoors.
Greyhounds relish creature comforts and must have soft bedding and warmth. The coat is extremely easy to care for, needing only occasional brushing to remove dead hair.

I love greyhounds. They are beautiful creatures! Like I said before, I was raised around miniature greyhounds!
Lovely post Mr. TLRB.
I LOVE dogs. And I'm friends with each and every single dog that I've ever come across- really. They are the most loving, sensitive & protective creatures on our planet *:)*. All they need is a little care and what they give in return is unconditional affection.
I wasn't allowed to keep one though as my mother thought that keeping pets would get the house dirty. *:(* But my hubby's promised me a lab some time soon and I can't wait *:D*.

Concur. They are beautiful, and they are very friendly. That is one of the reasons I don't like to go to visit the dogs at Operation Greyhound headquarters; they come to you for attention and affection and they believe you are going to take them with you when you leave!
I have my day in COURT today with the neighborhood BULLY and I will be taking the witness stand, so let me get ready here.
Have a fine JAILS SCHOOL day.

Good morning and thanks for dropping by. Oh no, you were not allowed to keep pets, but now you can [when I grew up we did not have a single pet in our home]. Labrador dogs are beautiful, you will have a good companion. On a daily basis I go back and read my posts on the Animal Planet category and take a look at the photo of JAKE the Labrador on the post "Reporting the death of JAKE." What a beautiful and smart dog! Okay, I have to get ready for my day in COURT. Have a fine INDIA Evening !!!

Good afternoon [it is now 1310 on the West Coast of the USA]. Oh, cfs is NOT new. See the posted by line on the blog [posted by cfs]. The blog was originally known as "Politicom by cfs" [original address remains politicom.blogspot.com but I have linked to lowestrated.com].
Some of my good ole friends have given me some ole krappolla for the TLRB type of signature, so, I use both. At the end of this comment I have a link to one of my first articles [and oh by the way, it is a good one!!!]
Oh, in ref to the court: I had a day in COURT with the neighborhood bully. I WON THE CASE and I was vindicated. For me it was a slam dunk because "When You Tell The Truth You Don't Have To Remember Anything" [Mark Twain].
On the initials, cfs are my actual initials. My first name is found in the BIBLE.
Have a fine INDIA Evening !!!

Thanks for dropping by and thanks for the note. Greyhounds are of various colors. I like the color Brindle, but the Brown looking ones are awesome too [and then there are the bright black ones!]. You are jumping on a train? Have a fine JAPAN morning !!!
They are beautiful dogs...
When I lived in Yuma Arizona, we used to go to the Greyhound races...
I love dogs.. animals period.
I pray to God that they go to Heaven. They are our little gifts from God.
Hugs
Terri
Good evening and thanks for dropping by. I have never watched them running on the race tracks. Our Racing Greyhound was one of the competitors at Agua Caliente Race Track in TIJUANA. The owner of the race track collects all kind of exotic animals including lions, I heard a lot of horror stories about the man [he was just defeated running for governor of Baja California Mexico]. René Descartes wrote about animals not having a soul. Descartes was wrong.
Have a fine VEGAS evening !!!
oh u call it Brindle? love it!
thanks for the new word and correcting 'in' to 'on' lol
hugzzzzz
Niki-chan
Good morning, the color brindle is a mix of colors. The color of my dog was brindle - brownish with dark stripes, with a white chest, white face, and white belly [that is the best way I can describe my old Racing Greyhound]. Okay, have fine JAPAN evening !!!
aww beautiful!!
are they your legs in the photo??
Niki-chan
Good morning and thanks for the note. No, those are not my legs. It is not me or my dog on the photo. Have a fine JAPAN evening!!!

I got tired after the Cha's ... there are still the Che's Chu's etc. Think about how long all that begating goes on for in Genisis 5.
Paul
Yes, there are way too many names with C on the Bible [plus cities, towns, mountains, etc, etc]. Have a fine EL PASO/JUAREZ evening !!!
OMG ... I hadn't even thought of the cities and towns
I give up
Paul
In ref to Biblical names, there are a BUNCH! The good thing is that NONE of my kids have Biblical names. Have a TEXAS size evening!
