Al Gore Wins Nobel Peace Prize

Congratulations to Al Gore! Sir, you are having a GREAT year and now there is a Democratic Political Organization asking you to run for president AGAIN because "You won once and will win again."

Okay shipmates, it did happen. Al Gore was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize and now all members of the Right Wing Wacko [RWW] coalition will attack this American. And yes I know, the name of one RWW talk show host [the drug abuser] was sent to the Nobel Foundation for consideration. The RWW talk show host was NOT considered by the Nobel Foundation. I believe the recommendation letter was deep-sixed as soon as received - what a joke!

This is the real deal. This is not a joke. Check this from the Nobel Foundation.

Quote

THE NOBEL PEACE PRIZE FOR 2007

The Norwegian Nobel Committee has decided that the Nobel Peace Prize for 2007 is to be shared, in two equal parts, between the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) and Albert Arnold (Al) Gore Jr. for their efforts to build up and disseminate greater knowledge about man-made climate change, and to lay the foundations for the measures that are needed to counteract such change.

Indications of changes in the earth’s future climate must be treated with the utmost seriousness, and with the precautionary principle uppermost in our minds. Extensive climate changes may alter and threaten the living conditions of much of mankind. They may induce large-scale migration and lead to greater competition for the earth’s resources. Such changes will place particularly heavy burdens on the world’s most vulnerable countries. There may be increased danger of violent conflicts and wars, within and between states.

Through the scientific reports it has issued over the past two decades, the IPCC has created an ever-broader informed consensus about the connection between human activities and global warming. Thousands of scientists and officials from over one hundred countries have collaborated to achieve greater certainty as to the scale of the warming. Whereas in the 1980s global warming seemed to be merely an interesting hypothesis, the 1990s produced firmer evidence in its support. In the last few years, the connections have become even clearer and the consequences still more apparent.

Al Gore has for a long time been one of the world’s leading environmentalist politicians. He became aware at an early stage of the climatic challenges the world is facing. His strong commitment, reflected in political activity, lectures, films and books, has strengthened the struggle against climate change. He is probably the single individual who has done most to create greater worldwide understanding of the measures that need to be adopted.

By awarding the Nobel Peace Prize for 2007 to the IPCC and Al Gore, the Norwegian Nobel Committee is seeking to contribute to a sharper focus on the processes and decisions that appear to be necessary to protect the world’s future climate, and thereby to reduce the threat to the security of mankind. Action is necessary now, before climate change moves beyond man’s control.

For those attacking Al Gore, I say, what have you done for my planet lately?

Thanks for reading and have a fine Al Gore Day!

When I heard about this on the radio this morning, my first reaction was ... huh? How does making a documentary about global warming earn you a "Peace" prize. The convoluted thinking that by pointing out the dangers of global warning, future wars for resources like water may be prevented are so ridiculus it isn't funny. They just wanted to give Al Gore a Nobel Prize, and didn't care what it was for.

"duh...I don't know, I don't know!"

This is beyond my level of comprehension. What are the political implications for this award...if any? Will he throw his hat into the ring?

Good picture of him, anyway! He sure looks pleased!! (well...duh....who wouldn't be pleased!!)

Oh...btw...glad to have you back in action, cfs!

I expect Al Gore to be attacked by every RWW for winning the Nobel Peace Prize [he is now with some of the great and some of the not so great receiving the Nobel Peace Price].

Why did he win? This is from the award citation:

"Al Gore has for a long time been one of the world’s leading environmentalist politicians. He became aware at an early stage of the climatic challenges the world is facing. His strong commitment, reflected in political activity, lectures, films and books, has strengthened the struggle against climate change. He is probably the single individual who has done most to create greater worldwide understanding of the measures that need to be adopted."

Again, I do expect every RWW to get on the offensive to try to diminish the award given to this American.

Have a fine TEXAS evening.

Thanks for dropping by and thanks for the "welcome back" [glad to be back from a long road trip]. Yes, I found a good photo of Al Gore with his "ready to fight" stance. And as far as political implications the man is NOT RUNNING for president. I do expect every RWW radio and television personality to attack the man for this award, time for them to act like a bunch of sore losers [nothing new]. Okay, again, thanks for dropping by and have a fine TEXAS evening!

Thanks for dropping by and thanks for the "welcome back cfs note" and oh yes we are glad to be back from a long road trip! Yes, same prize given to Henry Kissinger in 1973. Al Gore is in good company. Some of the winners are not too good [in my opinion], for example, the 1994 winners were Shimon Peres, Yitzkah Rabin, and Yasser Arafat - we know that Yasser Arafat is THE FATHER of modern terrorism. Okay Niki, have a fine JAPAN morning!!!

Yasser Arafat died with innocent blood on his hands. Leader of the Palestine Liberation Organization [PLO], leader of Black September Organization [BSO], leader of Fatah, leader of the Martyr Brigades. All of them are or were terrorist organizations. This man invented modern terrorism which includes aircraft hijacking and taking the innocent hostage [and killing the hostage]. Not a good man. Niki, have a fine JAPAN evening!

My biggest beef is the catagory he fell into. There are Nobel Prizes for science ... wouldn't this be a better fit? If they didn't have a deserving candidate for the prize, what about Mahatma Gandhi? Can you believe, though nominated many times, he never received this award?

In ref to Al Gore winning the Nobel Peace Prize, The man would be critiziced by the Right Wing Axis regardless of the type of award received [Peace, Science, Medicine, Physics, Chemistry, Literature, Economics].

I was glad to see AMERICANS Mario Capecchi from UOU, and Oliver Smithies from UNC winning the 2007 Nobel Prize in Medicine.

I was glad to see AMERICAN Al Gore winning the 2007 Nobel Peace Prize.

This is GOOD for America. I want to see AMERICANS winning.

As far as Al Gore, the man is having a GREAT YEAR. He won an OSCAR, an EMMY, and now he won The NOBEL PEACE PRIZE.

Right Wing Axis, eat your heart out!

The Right Wing Axis

I like to see AMERICANS winning! It is good for AMERICA!

In in ref to the Nobel Peace Prize Winners - the Republicans complained in 1919 when Woodrow Wilson won, in 1964 when Martin Luther King won, in 1983 when Lech Walesa won, in 1984 when Desmond Tutu won, in 1990 when Mikhail Gorbachev won, in 1993 when Nelson Mandela won, in 1994 when Yasser Arafat won, in 1997 when the International Campaign to Ban Landmines won, in 2001 when Kofi Annan won, in 2002 when Jimmy Carter won, in 2005 when Mohamed ElBaradei won, and now in 2007 when Al Gore won. However, the Republicans were ALL SMILES in 1906 when Theodore Roosevelt won, and in 1973 when Henry Kissinger won!

I like to see AMERICANS winning! It is good for AMERICA!

Right Wing Axis [RWA], eat your heart out!

I get it, I get it... (HEE HEE)

but, that is the ONLY good thing about Gore getting this "PEACE" prize ...

I simply can't stand this guy. He doesn't practice what he preaches... we feel he is a total hypocrite...

Mike and I do whatever we can ...
we recylce like nobody's business... in fact, we have more recycling than regular trash.. it's funny....

Mike takes "submarine showers" and we don't run the water when we brush our teeth...
(I can't do the submarine shower)

We don't leave lights on when we're not using them ...

I think Al Gore/Dems are only trying to tax us on the energy we use..... the energy tax....

(oh, I listen to Rush Limbaugh all the time... and Hannity and Glenn Beck)

supposedly there are 11 important things in his book that are wrong... I heard it on Fox News...

Anyhoo...
I just think he's a big jerk..

BUT LIKE YOU SAID... AT LEAST AN AMERICAN WON...
;-)

I am not a member of the EMW [or EnvironMentalist Wacko], but I DO MY PART on protecting the environment because as a physical fitness type I love to breath clean air; I love to drink clean water; I love to eat clean and healthy food. I believe the Republican Party have missed the boat on the climate change issue. The only thing the Republicans have done about climate change is to attack/ridicule the messengers. I do concur with GOP writer David Brooks [from the New York Times] - I have no idea WHY the climate is changing, but it is changing. I do not read articles published by [or listen to] any of the members of The RWA [Right Wing Axis]. In ref to Al Gore, I did not vote for this man in the 2000 election, I have never read any of his books, and I have not watched his documentary. But, in the past couple of days I have learned how much this man is DISLIKED and HATED by The RWA and by members of the Republican Party. Terri, again, thanks for dropping by and have a fine VEGAS evening.
