Wise Investing Made Simple, Larry Swedroe's Tales To Enrich Your Future.
As you know by now on The Lowest Rated Blog rule number one is to be as unfair as possible with crooks and liars. But today we will shift style here and will discuss a book written for individual investors and for financial advisors. A couple of Wall Street's crooks and liars are exposed on this book.
I have read Wise Investing Made Simple a couple of times now, and each time I open the book I learn something new.
This book is easy to read, packed with short chapters and good stories to help you rethink about your investment style. If you are looking for a book to show you how to beat the market, then this books is not for you - if this is what you want, then I recommend you continue watching Maria Bartiromo and Jim Cramer on CNBC. But if you are looking for a book that shows you how the markets really work by using plain English, then Wise Investing Made Simple is the book for you.
Larry Swedroe wrote this book with three objectives in mind - to explain how the markets really work, to forever change the way you think about investing and how the markets work, and to provide you with sufficient knowledge to begin to make informed and more prudent investment decisions. In my opinion, all objectives were met or exceeded.
This book makes for the perfect Christmas present for your family and friends.

What? You aren't reviewing "An Inconvenient Truth" by Glenn Beck? LOL! Happy Thanksgiving!
Revolucionario
Say what? Glenn Beck wrote a book? Thanks, but NO, thanks. I will not expend my hard earned pennies on books from a RWW or a LWW. I was given a book written by RWW Mike Wiener Savage and I gave up after a couple of pages! Have a fine RWW and LWW free evening!

Too late for me investing. Of course I could take it out of my IRA but it's taxed to death by the time I get the money to spend. then reinvest and thats taxed again.....cant win...Wish I was rich then I wouldn't have to worry about it. stay well....
Good morning cfs!
Like tapline, we're past the age of investments, unless some unknown benefactor leaves us a bundle in the next year or two!
(although, hubs likes to stay 'on top' of what's going on so he can talk about it at the coffee shop!)
BUT! The book sounds perfect for our children and older grandchildren. Our oldest daughter is the financial guru of the family and is constantly studying the ins and outs of investments.
Upon your recommendation, she's getting this for Christmas!! Thanks for the tip and have a great day!!

Thanks for dropping by and thanks for the comments. I was not aware of the Malibu fires until I saw the news on CNN at the Navy Gym this morning - all is clear in the San Diego County with no fires to report [PTL]. Glad to hear about your oldest daughter taking care of business on the financial area. I just wonder why don't we teach Personal Finances at least at the High School level? Already then, have a fine TEXAS evening.

Thanks for the recommendation. I would be interested in learning about how the stock market works. As soon as my boat comes in (as my Mom used to say) I will be sure and pick this one up.
I hope you had a great Thanksgiving! I did. I ate so much! Now its back to counting calories. Ugh... I wish I loved working out like you do. Its such a chore for me. I only enjoy the feeling when I'm finally done with it for the day. :)

Thanks for dropping by and thanks for the comment. Thanksgiving was okay, but we were dealing with some issues and I did not enjoy the meal; but this is a new day. We still have plenty of leftovers; however, all the cheese cake is gone! I do not count calories and today I had a great workout. Have a fine VIRGINIA evening.

Maybe I should have read this book before I blew my meager fortune in Pan-Am stock.
I think I will stick with real property till retirement ... though now is not the time to be buying. Owning land is as "American" as it gets.

Thanks for dropping by; long time no read you. My recommendation for everyone is NOT to invest a penny in individual stocks; invest that penny in a good index mutual fund and forget about the market ups and downs. Investing in real estate is a good move. Mark Twain said it best: "Buy land, they're not making it anymore." Okay, have a productive week in Texas.

heehee...Mark Twain is so clever.

Yes he was a fun person, and take a look at what he said about our political figures - "The political and commercial morals of the United States are not merely food for laughter, they are an entire banquet." Have a fine week.
