Political Recap 012

From top to bottom: Mitt Romney [Republican], Mike Huckabee [Republican], John Edwards [Democrat], and Bill Richardson [Democrat].

This is a recap of my final four presidential candidates. Back in March 2007 I posted The Final Four [Primary Predictions]. The below listed presidential candidates are my final four [2 from the Republican Party, 2 from the Democratic Party].

John Edwards
Bill Richardson
Mike Huckabee
Mitt Romney

A couple of days ago I was asked if I have changed my primary predictions. Are you kidding me? No changes as of now, and there will be no changes unless any of the candidates listed above declare a NO MAS quitting the race before crossing the finish line. I do not expect any of my final four to quit [not at least until after the New Hampshire primary]. All of my final four are in good shape with the exception of Bill Richardson. The governor of New Mexico is the candidate with the BEST resume, but he needs to make an upward move on the polls.

As far as the first test in Iowa, things are looking good for Republican candidates Romney and Huckabee [as a matter of facts this duo have a good chance to finish one and two in Iowa]. Also in Iowa, things are looking good for Democratic Candidate Edwards. Bottom line, of my final four the only one needing a push is Richardson, all others are in a good position.

What about the front runners on both parties? If you are to believe the polls and the media hype, then a Hillary Clinton vs Rudy Giuliani contest is inevitable. Are you kidding me? What inevitability? The voters of Iowa and New Hampshire will have a say on this. I see both front runners LOSING on January 3rd 2008 in the Iowa Caucus and LOSING again in the New Hampshire Primary a few days later. A defeat in Iowa is not a big deal, but a defeat in Iowa followed by a defeat in New Hampshire is bad news for any candidate!

Full disclosure. I am one hundred percent Libertarian/Independent. I am not a member of the Republican Party. I am not a member of the Democratic Party. I am not a member of any Political Party. I do not support any of the candidates listed as my final four, or any of the other candidates. But at the end of the day I will vote for the most qualified candidate [however, I will NOT support the two front runners because they are morally corrupt and their nomination will divide this country].

This is my opinion ... what's yours?

You must be keeping better track of the race than I am. I'm with you, I'm independent and do not know which way to go at this point. I likewise will go with whichever one I feel will do the best for the country. One that will read and understand the constitution. That is what they swear to uphold isn't it??? ...good post.....stay well....

Thanks for dropping by and thanks for your comments.

Currently RUDY and HILLARY are the "National Front Runners" but we need to remember the last presidential election and we need to remember what happened to the front runners in 2004.

We can start with remembering that Howard Dean was ahead of John Kerry by 19 points heading into the Iowa Caucuses.

In Ioway Kerry came in first, Edwards second, Howard Dean [the front runner for months] came in third.

The Iowa caucuses was a boost for Kerry, who proceeded to the New Hampshire primary as a serious front runner, and ultimately captured the Democratic nomination.

Edwards, was supposed to be dead [he was looking worst than Kerry], but things changed after Iowa, and then he received a good bost at the South Carolina primary.

We know what happened to Howard Dean after Iowa.

Now back to the 2008 primary season, I expect to see a repeat of 2004 with the "National Front Runners" suffering an embarrassing defeat in Iowa and New Hampshire.

Keeping my fingers crossed.

Have a fine Maine morning.

Welcome back! Thanks for dropping by and thanks for the comment. My crystal ball was on the money in 2004 but was totally off track in 2006. We shall see how my crystal ball performs in 2008 primaries and 2008 general election. As of now I will make no changes to my predictions, three of the final four are in good shape [Richardson needs to make a move]. Have a fine Texas evening.

Good Endorsement for Romney

This is from The Hill dot com:

The man credited with coining the phrase “Moral Majority,” leading conservative Paul Weyrich, is endorsing former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney’s (R) bid for president. Weyrich is the chairman and CEO of the Free Congress Research and Education Foundation, and was the founding president of the Heritage Foundation.

Usually I say "so what" to all the endorsements, but this is good news for Romney.

Have a fine evening.

You know my opinion already! I'm up in the air between Mitt and Huckabee. I want to like Mitt more, but he keeps doing stupid stuff. I wish he were better than Huckabee, but I'll take either. A ticket with both would be a dream come true.

Well, in the way I see it, both of them will be on the Republican Party ticket for 2008. Romney for President and Huckabee for the VP spot. This could be a winning combination, now it is up to the voters to decide. Have a fine Revolucion evening.

RON PAUL in the news

America is not taking this man seriously and today his followers sent a message LOUD AND CLEAR to the rest of the GOP presidential field by donating almost 4 million dollars in less than 24 hours to the RON PAUL campaign. The $3.5 million, represented on-line contributions from more than 22,000 donors. Ron Paul's total deposed Mitt Romney as the single-day fundraising record holder on the GOP side of the house. And oh by the way, I see a lot of RON PAUL for president bumper stickers in the San Diego area !!!

I picked Rudy before any one ever considered him running. I posted this in April titled, "America's President" ... a play on words of the title "America's Mayor" which was bestowed on him after 9/11.

Neither Mitt nor Huckabee are electable. The country has too many misconceptions about Mormons (the TV series "Big Love" might have something to do with that). Maybe if Romney has an interview ala JFK to explain his religion to the country ...

Huckabee has a problem with the fact that he is a fundamentalist Christian and I believe the country is sick and tired of fundamentalists by now.

Too bad, either would make a good CINC.

I think Romney/Huckabee ticket would be good.

Romney and Huckabee are in good shape for IA and NH, but they must have a good showing in those two states. Both are E L E C T A B L E if the voters decide to vote for them. We do not have a clear front runner on the GOP side of the house based on the state by state poll numbers. Have a fine Texas evening.

NH Primary and INDEPENDENT voters

I just read something interesting about registered voters in the state of NH.

The numbers please!

-- 26% Republicans.
-- 31% Democrats.
-- 43% Undeclared.

I hope that in the not so distant future every voter in the United States becomes a registered independent voter. That is the only way things are going to change in politics.

One thing about Iowa.

Rudy decided not to run in the straw poll that they had there a month or so ago. This straw poll is basically a contest of which candidate can purchase the most votes. It baffles me why it even exists ... though it did give Huckabee (who finished 2nd) a boost in statewide polling.

Paul

I wrote about the Iowa Straw Poll on my Political Recap 004 [August 16th 2007]. This is what I wrote about Romney:
Mitt Romney [GOP]. Winner of the straw poll in Iowa. Other GOP front runners did not participate on the straw poll, they knew Mitt Romney was going to win, so they took the easy way out. He is one of my FINAL FOUR and I have no plans to remove his name from the list because I see him going all the way to the nomination.

True statement, Rudy and the rest decided to by-pass the straw poll because it was going to be ugly.

Straw polls or not, the poll that counts is the one on election day!

Have a fine Texas evening.

Good news for Rudy and McCain

Rudy is receiving the endorsement of CCW Pat Robertson, McCain is receiving the endorsement of Brownback.

I was going to ask if the endorsement of Pat Robertson would change the status of Rudy significantly....

and I see that you've already updated! You certainly stay on top of things!!

Thanks!

Thanks for dropping by. Yes, it is good news for Rudy, and good news for McCain. Some would not buy an used car from Pat Robertson, but he can bring a lot of followers to the Rudy's camp - so, good news for Rudy. Have a fine Texas evening.

A new president in less than a year

I watched the NBC nightly news and they are announcing that the 2008 general election is exactly one year from today. Wrong statement. The next presidential election is on November 4th, 2008. If you wait for November 7th 2008 then you are going to waste your vote.

I think that Pat Robertson's endorsement of Rudy just shows how scared the religious right is or a Hillary, Obama or any Democratic presidency. They would rather over-look Rudy's moderate stance on social issues to ensure that a liberal doesn't get elected.

Things are looking up for America's Mayor.

The Lowest Rated Blog said...

Paul

The endorsement has nothing to do with Hillary or the rest of the Democratic Party candidates.

Here is the reason for the endorsement:

Pat Robertson talks to GOD and GOD told him to support Rudy.

Have a fine Texas weekend.
