Politics and Dancing With The Stars

Melanie Brown and Maksim Chmerkovskiy perform a dance on the 5th season of Dancing with the Stars. In my opinion this was the best couple, and Maksim is without any doubts the best dancer of the bunch - but they came up short on the viewers votes - at the end of the day the viewers are the deciders.

Wait a minute there cfs, this is supposed to be about politics! Not so fast. Dancing with the stars is about popularity - the best is not always the best, but the one with the largest number of votes. The same thing happens in politics, at the end of the day the number of votes makes the difference.

On the dancing floor Spice Girl Melanie Brown was easily the best finalist, she had consistently surprised the judges with her good looks and her attitude - plus she can dance too - Melanie Brown and Maksim Chmerkovskiy were the highest-scoring couple throughout the season. And again - in my opinion - Maksim Chmerkovskiy is without any doubts the best dancer in Dancing with the Stars.

However, the viewers said no to Melanie Brown and gave the trophy to the two-times Indianapolis 500 winner Helio Castroneves; he became the 4th consecutive man to win the trophy. Granted, Castroneves' team was good, but not as good as the Brown's team.

Now back to politics. Watch the polls closely, and keep good track on all the candidates. We have some excellent candidates, we have some good candidates, and we have some bad candidates. But at the end of the day what really count are the votes. Just take a look at the 2000 Republican primaries, John McCain was the best candidate. You know the rest of the story.

Thanks for reading.

In my opinion, the best dancer was voted off very early. She was a cheatah girl and the press hit her hard ... calling her a "cheater girl" because all the lip-sycnching Cheatah Girls are professional dancers. I say if they were invited to compete, they can not be accused of cheating ... the show knew what they were. If you use the logic that she should not be there because she danced on stage ... what about Drew Lachey who did a lot of dancing as a Backstreet Boy?

BTW ... it was a complete farce that Marie Osmond made it as far as she did.

Guess I'm the only one that never did get into DWTS! It always seemed inane and demonstrated poverty of intellect. The one time I actually watched it was the night Marie fainted?? Maybe I just didn't give it a chance. I'll do better next time!

Yet, I can see how it can be compared to the presidential candidates....a popularity contest!

Concur with Marie Osmond, she was supposed to be out of there a long time ago. On professional dancers Maksim Chmerkovskiy is the best of the bunch. Have a fine Texas evening.

In ref to watching, I do watch the start [to see who the players are] and then I wait for the final two weeks - I did not see Marie Osmond hitting the canvas. Again, it is just a popularity contest and this time the most popular - not the best dancer - was Castroneves, and of course the Latino voters made it happen. And oh by the way, the same group - the Latino voters - will make the difference on the next presidential election. You read it here first. Have a fine Texas evening.

I have never watched Dancing with the Stars so I can't really say anything about it. But I wanted to say hi anyway.

I hope you are right about your predictions... I would like to see a Mitt/Mike ticket but others seem to think it could never happen.

I did not watch the debate but I understand Rudy and Mitt are in the process of destroying each other - leaving an oppening for Huckabee - Iowa and New Hampshire are going to be fun to watch. I do not get to vote until February 5th on the Super Duper Tuesday. Have a fine weekend.

I took two ballroom dance classes in college. I was pretty decent. You'll be pleased to know I have lost 16 pounds, by eating less and pacing more in prison.

Thanks for dropping by, I was a Sailor once ... and young, and I did a lot of dancing because I had nothing better to do - now I stay away from dance halls. Good on you for losing those pounds, keep it up [or should I say keep it down] and keep on pacing! Have a fine Revolucion morning.

OMG OMG OMG
I LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE DWTS!!

My husband and I DVR it so that we never miss a show..
and I am with you buddy...

M&M should have won...
they were the best!
Maks is so so so so good.

I did like Helio, he is a cutie...
and he did good. I hear his fiance dumped him after the show...
I think it was the KISS!!

Anyhoo..
I did not care for that Cheetah girl... I think it wasn't really fair that she was on b/c she's a dancer... but then Mel was kind of a dancer, too...
I have to admit, that the Cheetah could move for a girl that wasn't the tiniest thing on there....

maybe it was more fair that Helio won...

Oh heck,
I'm a Libra and I can't make up my mind!!!

I did love Marie and Jane Seymore...
but I loved Marie's partner Jonathan... he is the sweetest.

I am (we are) a total DWTS addict...

We loved Dance Center and

Samantha Harris drives us batty... she asks the most stupid questions...
we fast forward during her piece.

I hope they have more Dance Centers in the next DWTS

My family kept voting for Marie due to sentimental reasons, but in my opinion she was there way too long. Dancing With The Stars is the only program I bother to watch on ABC. Have a fine Vegas weekend.

Sad to hear about your b/p but at least you are "alive, well, and blogging" ... and yes, blogging do make the difference. Thanks, and have a fine Maine weekend.

Same generation? Well, I did a lot of dancing in the Western Pacific, the best disco club was located in Angeles City next to Clark Air Force Base in the RP. I believe the name was Vertigo Disco Club. The good times. Have a fine Japan weekend.
